Directions
New Paltz is centrally located in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley, easily reachable from any direction. The Village of New Paltz is located at the cross roads of State Routes 299, 32 & 208 with County Routes 6, 7 & 17 all entering the Village. On the eastern side, New York State Thruway New Paltz Exit 18 brings high speed car and truck access. Route 299 provides access to the east to the Mid-Hudson Bridge and Poughkeepsie. From the west Route 44/55 allows for an easy drive over the Shawangunks directly into town.
Here are some suggested routes to New Paltz:
From the South - Take the New York State Thruway up to Exit 18, turn left onto Route 299 at the end of the ramp and on to Main Street in New Paltz.
From the North - Take the New York State Thruway up to Exit 18,
turn left onto Route 299 at the end of the ramp and on to Main
Street in New Paltz.
From the East - Take Interstate 84 to Newburgh and exit onto the New York State Thruway, then continue as "From the South", or;
Cross the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie across the Mid-Hudson
Bridge, transition onto Route 9W North to Route 299 West.
Proceed west on Route 299 directly into New Paltz.
From the West - Travel either North or South on Route 209 to Route 44/55 East. Make the turn and drive over the Shawangunks through Minnewaska State Park Preserve and Mohonk Preserve. At the base of the mountain Route 299 junctions from the left, make that turn and proceed into New Paltz.
New Paltz is very easy to navigate. Everything centers off Main Street, the primary East to West street in the village. The eastern end of Main Street contains many shopping centers and support services, while the western section is the old business heart of the village. Huguenot Street Historic District is a right hand turn off of Main Street just before the Wallkill River Bridge.
Directions to St. Andrew's Church
St. Andrew's Church is located at 163 Main Street in New Paltz, at the corner of Main Street (Rt. 299) and North Oakwood Terrace. From the traffic light at the end of the Thru'way ramp, turn left and head towards the center of New Paltz. Pass through three (3) traffic lights. The third light is at N. Manheim Blvd.; the next block is Millrock Road, and the street after that is N. Oakwood Terrace (look for Hofmann's Deli and a Gulf station on your left; the church is on your right). There is on-street parking near the church
Directions to Unison Arts and Learning Center
Unison Arts & Learning Center is located on Mountain Rest Road in New Paltz. From the traffic light at the end of the Thru'way ramp, turn left onto Rt. 299 and proceed through New Paltz. You will pass through four (4) traffic lights and cross over a small green bridge as you leave the Village of New Paltz. Just after the bridge, turn right onto Springtown Road (look for signs for Mohonk Mountain House), and then take the first road to your left, which will be Mountain Rest Road. Proceed approximately .6 mi.; Unison will be on your left, at the top of the first very large hill -- look for the sign near the road.
